The Author

Sharon Burch

Music Educator, Sharon Burch, authored the Freddie The Frog® storybooks to share the magic with other teachers struggling to captivate and teach wiggly kids in the music classroom setting.

Sharon creates lessons that allow students to experience music concepts through story, singing games, and interactions that leave kids hungry for more and falling in love with music in the process. She introduced Freddie the Frog to her classroom of music students and discovered the “magic of Freddie.”

Students eagerly anticipate the next music class to see Freddie and discover what fun games and activities he has in store. Classroom management issues all but disappear! Freddie quickly becomes the students favorite musical friend and the “hook” for all things music education. Kids learn the basics of music without even knowing it!

The international best-selling Freddie the Frog Book series introduces fundamental music concepts. Freddie’s fifth and sixth books introduce students to the world of jazz where they discover a playground for musical creativity, improvisation, and more. (Psst! America’s art form is perfect for kids!)

Sharon is a member of the National Association for Music Education, serves on the international Jazz Education Network’s Education Committee, and serves as an Education Consultant for Jazz at Lincoln Center, writing step-by-step lessons designed for teachers and students new to jazz at the elementary level. (Classically trained? No problem. These lessons are for you.)

Sharon and Freddie share the “magic of Freddie” in person and online through the Freddie Basics Crash Course, an online library of detailed lessons with transitions, and “Watch and Teach” demonstration videos designed for the busy music teacher.

She makes her home in South Carolina with her husband, Bill, and their lovable dog, Farley. Together, they enjoy watching the sunrise from the beach, boating, and hosting friends and family.
